A powerful storm is moving up the eastern coast, packing gusty winds and drenching rain. These conditions are expected to begin this evening and continue throughout most of the day tomorrow.
To prepare, Public Works was out today sweeping litter and debris from the streets and sidewalks, especially in areas surrounding storm drains. Fallen leaves are common debris that can block storm drains and contribute to flooding in our streets and on private property.
Our residents also help to keep these drains clear through the leaf collection program. This year, over 153 tons of leaves were collected and delivered to the Solid Waste Authority for composting.
Good job, everyone!
