Building Maintenance Worker (Part-Time)

The Building Maintenance Worker position is a part-time non-supervisory union position. The employee will perform manual tasks in the maintenance, construction and repair of Borough facilities and some seasonal outdoor work (mowing, snow removal). Assignments are supervised and outlined by the public Works Director who will delegate duties and inspect the progress of work completed. Employees are expected to exercise judgment in safety, task preparation and customer service.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license, be able to drive, and must have an insurable driving record.
• Basic knowledge of related construction, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.


Rate of Pay: $11.56 per hour


Shift: Monday through Friday


Hours: Part-time hours as assigned by supervisor

Wastewater Plant Operator

The Wastewater Plant Operator is a non-supervisory union position. The incumbent performs technical and lead work in the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, including making process control decisions. Candidates should possess a high level of technical knowledge, the ability to independently oversee shift operations, and the ability to coordinate the duties of the Wastewater Plant Worker. Possession and posting of a Class A, 1 PA D.E.P Wastewater Treatment Plant Certification and a valid PA Class B, CDL driver's license are required.

Police Officer

Persons making application for the position of Police Officer must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Indiana Borough Civil Service regulations.  A short application is used to determine eligibility for Civil Service entry level testing.  The short application is available at the police station or can be downloaded and printed from this site, see below.

The minimum requirements for eligibility are outlined on the cover page of the application form. Applications received on or before April 15 each year will be reviewed for the June testing period (testing periods subject to change).  All applicants will be notified of their eligibility status and eligible applicants will be invited to participate in the testing process, which includes an agility test, written examination and an oral examination.  Applications received after April 15 will be held until the next testing period the following year.

Successful candidates in the Civil Service testing process will be placed on an eligibility list, which is valid for one year.  Candidates considered for employment will complete the full employment application and will undergo a background investigation.

School Crossing Guard

The Indiana Borough Police Department and Indiana Area School District are accepting applications for the position of School Crossing Guard. There is currently a need for two (2) positions to be filled. Candidates must be of good character, sound mind, physically able to perform all associated duties, and have availability during morning and afternoon hours to facilitate crossing needs.
