Maintenance Worker - Streets Division

The Maintenance Worker -Streets Division position is a non-supervisory union position. Employee will perform manual tasks in the maintenance, construction and repair of Borough roads, streets, right-of-way, sanitary and stormwater infrastructure.

The position requires the operation of trucks, street sweeper, snowplow, heavy equipment, hand tools, motorized equipment, mowers, tractors and various other equipment.

Assignments are supervised and outlined by the Public Works Director who will delegate duties and inspect the progress of work completed, in conformance with established standards and specifications, safety and economy of operations. Employees in this position are expected to exercise some judgement in safety, work methods and planning detail.

Administrative Assistant/Payroll Clerk

Administrative Assistant/Payroll Clerk is a multifaceted position, which is a non-union and non-supervisory position primarily assigned to Administration Department.

Candidates should possess, at a minimum, the following skills, abilities and qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalency

  • Must possess a valid PA driver’s license, be able to drive, and must have an insurable driving record

  • Must qualify for Financial Bonding

  • Prior experience as a payroll clerk preparing all related documents, forms, and reports

  • Direct experience with payroll software, financial software, and all related tax forms

  • Experience supporting a management team

  • Decision-making skills

  • Organizational, communication (written and verbal), and collaboration skills

Substitute Crossing Guard (Part-Time)

The Indiana Borough Police Department and Indiana Area School District are accepting applications for the position of Substitute Crossing Guard. There is currently a need for two (2) positions to be filled. 


Uniforms and equipment are provided as is training with emphasis on the safety and welfare of children enroute to and from school. A successful background check is required before final employment. Rate of pay and qualifications can be found in the link below:

Police Officer

Persons making application for the position of Police Officer must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Indiana Borough Civil Service regulations.  A short application is used to determine eligibility for Civil Service entry level testing.  The short application is available at the police station or can be downloaded and printed from this site, see below.

  • The minimum requirements for eligibility are outlined on the cover page of the application form.

  • Applications received on or before April 15 each year will be reviewed for the June testing period (testing periods subject to change).

  • All applicants will be notified of their eligibility status and eligible applicants will be invited to participate in the testing process, which includes an agility test, written examination and an oral examination.

  • Applications received after April 15 will be held until the next testing period the following year.

  • Successful candidates in the Civil Service testing process will be placed on an eligibility list, which is valid for one year.

  • Candidates considered for employment will complete the full employment application and will undergo a background investigation.
