Indiana Borough Bridge Construction

Indiana Borough Bridge Repairs project slated to kickoff July 2026.

Work is scheduled to commence on the Indiana Borough Bridge Repairs Project, as funded by the DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund (2024). Funding will address repairs for the following five (5) bridges:

1. Maple Street over Marsh Run

2. Locust Street over Marsh Run

3. 4th and Church Street over Marsh Run

4. School Steet over Marsh Run

5. 7th Street over Marsh Run

Weather permitting, construction is anticipated to begin on July 1, 2026. The contracted crew from Francis J. Palo, Inc., will mill all 5 bridges, with work beginning on 1) Maple Street over Marsh Run, and 2) Locust Street over Marsh Run shortly thereafter. As those projects reach completion, crews will move to the remaining 3 bridges. The full project is expected to reach substantial completion by the end of November 2026.

Note: this is project is managed by the Indiana Borough Public Works Department. Construction has been awarded to Francis J. Palo, Inc., through a competitive bid process.

Other Future Construction

Indiana Borough has been awarded PA DEP Growing Greener funding to stabilize 3 sections of streambank along Marsh Run to mitigate erosion and flooding:

1. Coulter to Poplar Avenues

2. Willow Avenue to 7th Street

3. 5th Street Bridge Approach Channel Stabilization

Note: this is an Indiana Borough project.

Construction is anticipated to begin on these structures in fall 2026/spring 2027. We will update residents as construction timelines become available. More information about this project can be found in our Stormwater Action Plan.
