Indiana Borough is working to establish a Community Endowment Fund that will provide long-term support for projects and initiatives that improve the quality of life for residents.
The endowment will be created in partnership with the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies as part of the Small Town Challenge program, which helps municipalities build permanent community funds.
What Is a Community Endowment?
A community endowment is a permanent investment fund that grows over time. Donations to the fund are invested, and each year a small portion of the earnings is used to support projects that benefit the community.
The original donations remain invested forever, allowing the fund to grow and continue supporting the community year after year. This is a long-term investment in our community.
WHY AN ENDOWMENT?
Indiana Borough has spent the past several years strengthening its financial stability, pursuing grants, and planning for the future. Creating a community endowment is the next step in building a sustainable and resilient future for the Borough.
A successful endowment can:

In the first 5–10 years, the endowment could support projects such as:

The endowment Will not fund...
The Indiana Borough Community Endowment will not fund the municipal operating budget. The fund will not pay for routine services such as:

Road paving

Trash collection
-
Public works operations
-
Other taxpayer-funded municipal services
Those services will continue to be funded through the Borough’s regular budget and tax revenues.
