National non-profit KaBOOM has honored Indiana Borough for its commitment to children with a Playful City, USA designation for the past five years. It is recognized among 258 other communities nationwide. Playful City, USA honors cities and towns across the country for putting the needs of families first so kids can learn, grow and develop important life skills. This program transforms ordinary places into playful spaces that make it easy to play and stay physically fit.

Indiana Borough has achieved Tree City, USA recognition for the last 10 years. It is a nationwide movement with a commitment from 3,400 communities that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees and canopy.

Indiana Borough is bronze designated as a Walkable City due to the city’s commitment to improving the pedestrian experience through enforcement programs and a connected sidewalk network that leads to an exceptionally high walking rate within the community.
