3.16.20 RELEASE: Operational Changes Effective Today

Indiana Borough continues to monitor the evolving developments relating to the novel Coronavirus (COVID19). The CDC strongly recommends employing “social distancing” as a precaution and strategy to slow the transmission of the virus. In addition, individuals are asked to refrain from participating in large group activities. The declaration by the president and announcements by the governor and chancellor last Friday – combined with the cancellations of large gatherings such as sporting events, conferences, concerts, and parades – have informed the Borough in our decision to take specific actions today.

In an effort to protect members of our community and our employees, the Borough will limit entry into our offices beginning Monday, March 16th at noon. The following will also take effect starting today:

  • Borough offices will remain open and staff will be working, however the lobby will be closed to the public for the remainder of March.

  • “Walk-in” utility customers will be asked to use the drop-off box located in the entryway of the building to make payments. Customers can also make payments online or mail in their payment. Call 724-465-6691 for assistance.

  • Building permits will be obtained by appointment. Call 724-465-6691 to schedule.

  • Codes Department inspections will be temporarily halted, rescheduled, and will resume on Friday, May 1st.

  • The Indiana Borough Police Department will be accessible, as they are now, via using the red phone in the entryway.

  • The Borough parking garage will remain open and available to the public.

The Planning Commission and Shade Tree Commission public meetings for the month of March have been cancelled. The remainder of public meetings are still planned to occur but may be rescheduled or cancelled in the future.

We will continue to provide updates as developments warrant . To best serve our community, general questions may be sent via email to contact-us@indianaboro.com and we will work to provide a timely response.
