The Borough of Indiana is seeking members to serve on the Tomorrow Together: Indiana 2030 Steering Committee!
The Steering Committee is a group of key stakeholders tasked with guiding the update of Indiana Borough’s current Comprehensive Plan. It will be comprised of 10 people appointed by Borough Council. Members will represent local institutions, community and faith-based organizations, downtown businesses, neighborhoods, citizens, Borough Council and staff, Indiana County representatives and various other stakeholders across the Borough.
The role of the Steering Committee will be to build consensus and support regarding the various topics, approaches, and policies connected to updating the Comprehensive Plan. The Committee will work with the project consultant, Borough staff, and other local leaders to engage the public for input throughout the duration of the project. The Committee will also provide recommendations to the Planning Commission and Borough Council on the drafting and adopting the updated Comprehensive Plan.
Responsibilities:
Provide general and specific direction through the entirety of the process.
Advise the consultant in reviewing data in addition to developing and reviewing goals, policies, and draft documents.
Provide comment and input during all project phases and civic engagement meetings and components.
Identify issues and concerns during the project development process, and for the project as a whole.
Encourage community consensus and encourage stakeholder participation during outreach events and activities.
Promote awareness of and participation in the project.
Represent broad community interests.
Actively advise the Planning Commission and Borough Council of progress.

All meetings will tentatively occur at 6:00 PM and be held at the George Hood Municipal Building (80 N 8th Street, Indiana PA) and be accessible virtually via via Microsoft Teams.
