Announcement:
NEW PERMIT PARKING RULES AND REGULATIONS
Permit Parking stickers go on sale
August 16th:
Beginning in 1993, the Borough designated
certain areas as part of the residential parking district.
In these areas it is illegal to park between the hours of 7AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday, without a
valid parking permit displayed on the rear bumper of the registered
vehicle. The Borough
parking permit program allocates up to two parking spaces in the
residential parking district for each parcel.
Property owners or managers must authorize tenants to obtain
the permits for that property.
Residential parking permits will be
available beginning August 16th at the
Indiana
Borough Building
for all residents living within areas designated for on-street
permit parking. Starting
this year, the Borough will issue lifetime permits to permanent
residents, free of charge.
These permits attach to the resident’s vehicle and will not
expire as long as the resident owns that vehicle.
There will be no need to replace the permit on an annual
basis. When the
permittee replaces the vehicle, he/she must remove the permit and
return it to the Borough office.
The Borough will issue another permit for the new vehicle.
Of course, if the resident moves from that address, he/she
must also relinquish the permit.
If they relocate to another residence in a permit parking
zone, they can be reissued a permit.
Similar to previous years,
non-permanent residents must pay an annual fee of $240 for the
residential parking permit.
The Borough will no longer accept a driver’s license as proof
of permanent residency.
Instead, non-homeowners must bring a copy of the previous year’s
income tax return or check stub from a current payroll or social
security payment showing the local address of the applicant.
Social Security Numbers, check amounts, and other private
information should be redacted from the documents.
In an effort to make it easier for
residents to obtain permits for on-street parking in residential
areas, Indiana Borough has provided application forms, here on its
website, under the “Announcements” tab.
The application forms are available in a format that may be
printed off the website.
Applicants are asked to complete the form and bring it to the
Indiana Borough
Municipal Building,
along with driver’s license, vehicle registration, and
proof-of-residency. In
addition, the website displays rules and regulations governing the
Residential Permit Parking
Program. Copies of the
application form are also available at the
Borough Municipal
Building for anyone that does not
have access to the internet.
Permits issued for this year are valid from
September 1, 2010
until
August 31, 2011.
Lifetime permits are free to all permanent residents within
the residential parking district for as long as
they continue to reside at that address and
own/operate the registered
vehicle. Non-permanent
residents must pay an annual fee of $240 for each permit.
The Borough will not accept a current driver’s license as
proof of permanent residency. Rather,
applicants must demonstrate homeownership, payment of wage taxes to
the Borough, or some other evidence of permanency.
Applicants must still
register the specific vehicle titled in their name for the permit.
New permits will be issued beginning August 16
at the Indiana
Borough Municipal
Building,
80 N. 8th Street, between the
hours of 8AM and 4PM,
Monday through Friday.
If a renter, please ensure that the property owner has completed and
signed the authorization section at the bottom of the form granting
permission to issue the permit.
A permit cannot be issued unless the applicant provides
his/her Driver’s License, vehicle registration and, if appropriate,
proof of permanent residency.
