WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

The Indiana Borough Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility was constructed in 1973 and has been upgraded several times, the latest being a 17 million dollar expansion and collection system rehabilitation project in 2002. The expansion included an upgrade from an average design capacity of 6 million gallons per day to 8.2 million gallons, with improved ammonia nitrogen removal and wet weather handling capabilities.

The current system services over 70 miles, including Indiana Borough, I.U.P. and White Township. During the summer of 2008, the plant will begin to receive and treat wastewater from the Morganti Development.

There are two supervisors and seven employees that are responsible for 24/7 coverage at the plant, operating the plant within parameters set by the D.E.P. and the EPA.
